2 months duration
Since ancient times sannyasins and sadhus have recognized Chaturmas as a period to cease all travel and stay in one place. During the rainy season, they dedicated themselves to sadhana and anushthana. Darshan and satsang were given to distribute the fruits of their attainments to the wider community.
Sri Swami Satyananda revived this ancient tradition during his parivrajaka years from 1956 to 1963, when he returned to Munger every year to perform Shravan sadhana and anushthana on the banks of Mother Ganga.
Inspired by his example, Sannyasa Peeth conducts Chaturmas Anushthana each year, in the grounds graced by Sri Swami Satyananda’s Chaturmas sadhana.
This year, the Chaturmas Anushthana will be conducted from 11th July to 13th September at Sannyasa Peeth.
The months of Chaturmas are a special and auspicious time, dedicated to sadhana and connection with the divine through a continuous flow of mantras, kirtan, sadhana, katha and aradhana and celebrations. The daily presence of Swami Niranjanananda and the wisdom and inspiration of satsang create an environment of profound spiritual energy surrounded by the sacred river Ganga.
